When Simplicity Yoga offered to have my canvases on display at the studio, I started thinking in terms of incorporating spirituality into my art. What blossomed were my Buddha and lotus flower canvases. I enjoy making the petals of the flower out of interesting papers, like glossy, embossed & even newsprint.

In yoga, the lotus represents the Lotus Pose or Padmasana, where the feet and legs represent the petals of the lotus flower. It opens the hips, strengthens the back and creates flexibility in the knees and is a base pose for meditation, chanting and pranayama (breathing techniques).
The day after the storm I drove to Crop & Create in Markham to take a class with awesome Ms Kelly Purkey. I had not scrapped in a while, so it was nice to plunge in and learn some new techniques.
